Katy Perry brought her Detroit audience an unforgettable — and unexpectedly dramatic — moment this week when she stopped her show after a young fan collapsed on stage.
The “Roar” singer had been midway through her performance when she handpicked several lucky fans from the crowd to join her under the spotlight. Among them was a young girl named McKenna, who appeared visibly emotional as Perry passed out instruments for the group to play along.
Just moments later, Perry noticed something was wrong — McKenna had collapsed.

“Let’s practice. You got this — and let’s breathe,” Perry encouraged the group of young fans as they prepared to play along with her on stage. But just seconds later, McKenna suddenly collapsed, prompting Perry and her team to rush to her aid.
According to a fan who shared video of the incident with Storyful, “She got invited on stage and passed out from excitement and being overwhelmed.”
While McKenna was quickly escorted offstage for care, Perry — visibly shaken — gathered the remaining children into a group hug. She then led the entire arena in a heartfelt prayer.
“Dear God, we pray for McKenna, that she will come back fully and brighter and better than ever. Amen,” Perry said, as reported by Billboard.

“It’s so much. Sometimes you’re so brave, and you get on stage, and it’s overwhelming. I understand that feeling,” the “Teenage Dream” singer told the audience.
Thankfully, McKenna recovered and was able to return to the crowd a short time later, drawing cheers and relief from fans throughout the arena.

“She eventually ended up being OK and finished watching the concert — and Katy was very kind to her,” the person who filmed the incident told reporters.
The scary moment comes not long after another unsettling fan encounter during Perry’s Lifetimes Tour. While performing in Australia, a man stormed the stage in the middle of her song “Hot N Cold.”
In fan-shot video, the man could be seen rushing toward Perry just as she was about to take her microphone off the stand, grabbing her shoulder before security intervened.

Perry appeared startled, letting out a quick yelp before swerving to dodge the man’s arm. He then jumped down toward the crowd, blending in for a moment.
Ever the professional, the former “American Idol” judge kept singing as the intruder danced briefly on stage. Two security guards quickly chased him off while another staff member followed close behind.
The man was ultimately removed by additional security personnel, later arrested, and charged with two offenses for ambushing the pop star mid-performance.
