Kathy Griffin Sets the Record Straight — and Has a Laugh About It
Kathy Griffin is owning her look — and her headlines.
The 64-year-old comedian has confirmed she recently underwent her third facelift, after fans and tabloids took notice of her noticeably tighter appearance. On the latest episode of her Talk Your Head Off podcast, Griffin addressed the speculation head-on, even joking about the Daily Mail headline that described her face as “VERY taut.”
“This is my third, yes,” Griffin admitted with a laugh. “I know that’s so vain! No one comes to my shows for my youthful face — they come for the jokes.”
Griffin praised her Beverly Hills-based surgeon, Dr. Ben Talei, who also performed singer Sia’s facelift — which she called “the best before and after pictures” she had ever seen.
In addition to the facelift, she revealed she had work done on her eyelids and chin. But while the results may look glamorous, the recovery was anything but.

The comic didn’t sugarcoat the experience:
“Got the facelift, I’m gonna be honest, it’s painful,” she said. “These bitches that say, ‘It’s like getting a tooth filled!’ — no, it’s painful.”
On Being Paparazzi’s Target Without Makeup
Griffin also addressed the recent paparazzi shots of her sporting her natural hair and bare face while exercising in Malibu.
“I think I’m just getting papped a lot because I’m alive,” she quipped. “At a certain age, you get photographed without makeup and suddenly it’s a big deal. When I work out, guess what? I don’t have makeup on.”
Still, she admitted the “very taut” description wasn’t wrong:
“Very taut is also very true!”
A History of Cosmetic Enhancements
Kathy Griffin has never shied away from discussing her plastic surgeries. She famously had a nose job at 26, after years of hearing that her nose was holding her career back.
“You would think I had a nose the size of Texas,” she once told People. “I was young and impressionable, and I started to believe it.”
She’s also been candid about liposuction complications that nearly killed her, along with her struggles with body image in Hollywood.
“Being on TV told me that clothes didn’t come in anything larger than a size four — that got to me,” she said.
Owning Her Choices
Griffin’s honesty about cosmetic surgery is rare in Hollywood. While she pokes fun at herself, she also makes it clear that her decisions are her own — and that aging in the spotlight brings its own challenges.
As she put it best:
“This is my life. I’m here for the laughs — and if the face is taut, so be it.”
