Last week I attended the Heineken ‘black-tie’ exclusive premiere of ‘Spectre’ at the Palace Multiplex Cinema in Montego Bay. Myself along with a movie theater full of Montegonians were taken to the legendary world of James Bond. From alcohol mixes infused with Heineken wearing James Bond inspired names like ‘007’ and ‘Spectre’ to 007 styled popcorn bags, black-tie cupcakes and Heineken beer served throughout the night—it was quite the treat.
Do you know what surprised me even more? I was actually quite surprised that they’re were so many attendees present dressed to kill. Crazy to see so many channeling their inner ‘Bond’ in the middle of the week for this special screening. There were many Bond gals and several suave super spy’s dressed in their finest dresses and suits for the event & I must say it was quite a thrill to see everyone so in character.
It isn’t very often that I attend a green carpet movie premiere—but when I do I work the carpet like a world class secret agent—exquisite and refined. Okay, okay yes I am a fan of Daniel Craig and 007 on a whole but hey my loyalty lies with FASHION & James Bond’s style and his approach to fashion is always classy and impeccable.
For the event I went with one of Bond’s fave styles—the Turtleneck! A grey, lightweight, knit turtleneck dress that I paired with my glimmering grey pumps from Jessica Simpson and a black, discreet clutch fit for an assassin. Can you tell I love themes? & my grey turtleneck dress in my opinion fit the theme quite well.
The movie itself? Well, I won’t include too many spoilers but I consider Spectre not great, not bad but just pretty average. I mean it had all the attributes of any other Bond film, fight scenes, drinking, top class cars, crashes, high-tech gadgets and women—3 to be exact! But I think these same attributes made this movie very predictable. There were also several moments of odd silence; most notably during the strange Spectre meeting. By the ending of the scene I somehow forgot that an evil crime organization was actually having a group meeting. At some points in the movie I also felt like I was on a sight seeing tour of several countries in the world. The helicopter soaring over Mexico city, the car chase scene in Rome giving us a glimpse through the nighttime streets, views of the Austrian Alps and even train views of the African Sahara desert. Sightseeing I tell ya!
Nonetheless, as expected Bond’s wardrobe is gorgeous in “Spectre” and somehow in all the chaos he manages to be perfectly dressed from every occasion—wearing head-to-toe Tom Ford and the infamous Omega watch.
