The Makeup Line you’ve been Sleeping on: IMAN Cosmetics

Hey BeautyLeeders! I can’t believe we’re on the last week of February already. It feels like just yesterday I was writing my New Years post, and now I’m sitting here in awe because March is just a few days away. I want to start off this week by sharing with you a makeup brand that I recently re-discovered and fell in love with all over again! IMAN COSMETICS! Heard of them? You probably have. If not then keep reading because you’re in for a sweet, sweet surprise.

Round of Applause for a brand who caters to women of color!!! Okay Okay, I know we’re in 2017 and thankfully makeup for us gals in the #MelaninArmy aren’t as scarce as it used to be. But IMAN cosmetics has been around for us women of color for quite some time now and it’s pretty amazing to see that the brand is still holding their own amid fierce competition. Nonetheless, I feel like her line of products have been slept on in more recent years among the beauty community. But after being introduced to their new Luxury Concealing Foundation along with their Matte Lipsticks it’s clear to me why IMAN Cosmetics has been leading the game for so long.

I must admit, I was a little hesitant to try the Luxury Concealing Foundation since the name suggests super full coverage (which I stay away from). I personally like my foundation on the light to medium side but I still jumped at the opportunity to buff on this bad boy. Plus, any foundation that’s jam-packed with ingredients [vitamin C, A, E, grapeseed, licorice, pomegranate extract) to promote healthy skin is always welcome in my book.

When the Luxury Concealing Foundation arrived I pumped out the the varying shades on my palm and immediately started to swatch the shades on my face. The shade ‘Clay 1’ was a perfect match! Don’t you just love when you find a foundation that’s perfect for your skin? Since, IMAN formulated this 2-in-1 foundation to be super pigmented I first started with a tiny amount to achieve the lightest coverage possible. With one pump I managed to cover my entire face and surprisingly achieved medium coverage. As I blended in the second pump, I definitely realized the coverage potential of the foundation. My blemishes and under eye circles completely disappeared!

I’ve since applied the foundation using both my beauty blender and also my artis brush. With a brush the foundation applied full coverage and concealed ALL of my blemishes. But with the beauty blender I was left with medium coverage (which is what I personally prefer) even after using 2 full pumps. The finish is amazing, it gives you a natural radiance without looking greasy or shiny. I have a combination skin and I was so pleased when I realized midway through my day, the foundation did not catch any dry patches. The best part? The foundation blended seamlessly on my skin, it felt very lightweight and after roughly 8 hours of wear-time my face still looked pretty BOMB!

I also received IMAN’s Guilty Pleasure Matte Lipstick line and as I read the names of each lipstick, I started thinking of my own guilty pleasures. I’m sure you all can easily guess what my guilty pleasures are…shopping for all things beauty (& eating cookies late at night). I know it is a little vain, but we all secretly indulge in something and shopping for makeup and skincare products happens to be one of mine. Speaking of guilty pleasures…

All 5 shades of the Guilty Pleasures Matte Lipsticks were definitely a hit! The shades range from a nude to a deep-vampy plum shade and I promise you, the shades are suitable for just about every skin tone. The lipsticks were all matte but still very comfortable to wear and thankfully it did not dry out my lips throughout the day. The velvety lipsticks glide very easy on the lips and pack full on pigment with just one swipe. Don’t you just love when you get a lipstick that is a ‘one swipe wonder?’ I sure do! The lipsticks have a slight fruity smell but nothing that’s overpowering and that would bother even the people who are sensitive to smell. All in all, there was not one lipstick that I did not like. Of course there is a shade preference (my fave lippie is Fetish) but when it comes onto finish and pigmentation, they’re all amazing.

I don’t know about you but I for sure know I have the utmost respect for the Goddess herself, IMAN! A woman who has never been afraid to speak up for women of color and one who believes we should all #CelebrateOurSkinTone! She truly is more than just a supermodel to me, she is more like my Super Hero. Leave a comment below if you’ve seen or tried any of these babies and let me know what you think of them. Talk Soon. Nuff Love, Natasha ♥

Omg those lipsticks look so juicy and beautiful I must have them all haha! Is that a blush or bronzer I see with the sun emblem molded inside it looks gorgeous would love to hear your thoughts on the rest of the products as I am very interested in purchasing a few things from her line. Hey Camille! Yes the lippies are worth every penny! Oh and the compact with the sun emblem is their sheer finish bronzing powder. It isn’t new to their line and I’ve actually been using this product for years. Still one of my faves for a light, bronzy, glow.

I loved your review and lip swatches. I have the foundation and the lipsticks and love them all (im also in clay 1) I was wondering what the shade names are of the pressed powder pictured above and what is the shade that matched you. Also, could you swatch the lip glosses as well? Thank you!!!
