YES!!! Thank God its Friday!!! & guess what? Today we’re going back in time to last week Friday where I attended the opening event for Style Week Jamaica, ‘White Night, White, Style’. This one in particular was an all white event on the top of the world…okay more like on the top floor of The Pegasus Hotel (yeah I like to be dramatic)! So we’re on the top floor of a hotel, and the show starts and members of the Maritime Institute of Jamaica wearing all-white utilitarian suits, march the runway in pairs to welcome Saint International “IT” girls of the moment, Tami Williams and Kai Newman. Did I mention two of these models happen to be models for Vogue magazine! YES!!! Super amazing to know that two JAMAICAN models have graced the pages of American Vogue at the ages of 16 & 17. Do you remember what you were doing at 16? I sure do, trying to sneak out of my parents house to go to a party that wasn’t all that great haha!
So I heard all white event and I immediately knew I wanted to be a blank canvas, and I just so happen to have the perfect dress for that, somewhere in the abyss of my wardrobe….a classic shirt dress! It’s highly versatile and uber effortless, and can take you from day to night and back. I mean you can basically wear a shirt dress EVERYWHERE and it pairs well with just about any accessory! If you read my post last week then you’re aware of my easy breezy outfit obsession, and a shirt dress is very easy breezy.
I think in a shirt dress you will always look perfectly put together. I first tried it with a belt but I wanted to be a like a blank canvas remember? So I left it un-belted to achieve a more sophisticated and effortless vibe of the entire look. Plus my “BIG HAIR” already does enough talking for me!
When my girlfriend called me to find out what I planned on wearing to the all white event, I told her ‘well a white shirt-dress,’ she then went on to say “huh? what? so how do you wear that?” to which I replied… “it’s basically the longer version to a shirt and well you wear it like a dress!” It’s seriously as simple as that. My point is it’s such an easy breezy and effortless look, your shoes and accessories may perhaps set the tone of the outfit as opposed to the dress. As for my shoe I went with a pair of iridescent sandals to give off a more glam yet still effortless vibe, and went with a matching iridescent clutch to add a bit of glimmer to my blank slate.
So what do you guys think? Do you like the effortless vibe of things or do you like going all out and making statements as you enter the room? Let me know your thoughts below or tweet me @stylishleeds. See you tomorrow! Nuff Love, Natasha ♥
