2016 is finally here and so is Pantone’s color of the year! The best part…for the first time ever there are two hues chosen for the year 2016—Rose Quartz and Serenity. Pastel hues of pink and blue that bring calm, relaxation, warmth and gentleness.
Over the weekend I attended my cousins wedding that was held on the lawns of the Pegasus Hotel. Once I found out it was a garden wedding I immediately went looking for my ‘rose quartz’ lace, skater skirt. A skirt I have never worn because it’s just too damn feminine for my personal taste. In my opinion a lace skirt can easily come across as ‘fancy’ or more dressed up. Not only is my skirt in a lace material but it also happens to be in a pastel pinky-peach color which makes it all the more girly. Light pink hues like Pantone’s chosen color, Rose Quartz, always bring to mind baby showers, princesses and 5 years old girls and for that reason I’ve avoided wearing this skirt that has been sitting in my closet collecting dust for almost two years lol.
So I went to my cousins garden wedding wearing a pretty in pastel-pink outfit. An innocent and ultra-girly lace outfit that magnified the ‘rose quartz’ color’s soft, gentle and demure quality. I paired the skirt with a neutral top to avoid overshadowing the pastel shade and to help modernize the look just a bit. I really wanted to stay within the same ‘rose quartz’ color palette so I went with nude, pointed-toe mules, an oversized, color block clutch and baby pink lips to help balance my look.
This outfit was a little outside of my comfort zone and I’m still a bit on the fence whether or not I’ll be rocking a full lace outfit in a pastel hue anytime soon. But I guess we’ll see…it is only just the first month of 2016. Talk Soon. Nuff Love, Natasha ♥
