An Unexpected Loss

red-jumpsuit-nye-holiday-party-outfit-natashaleeds-stylishleeHi Loves, I hope you all have been enjoying the first few days of 2017! Typically we wake up on the first day of the year feeling refreshed or fighting a hangover from partying too hard the night before. I on the other hand woke up to shock, disbelief, numbness and sadness. I had every intention to share what I wore on New Years Eve with you on New Years Day but unfortunately my Mother-In-Law passed away on that very same day, January 1, 2017.

I enjoyed spending New Years Eve at Hedonism resort so much last year that I opted to go there again this year. Though Manny and I celebrate NYE together every year, his Grandma/MOM hasn’t been well for sometime and for that reason he opted to spend New Years with her back in Florida. With this in mind I made the decision to go to the hotel, dine and dance with friends and family and then head back home (an hour away) in time to countdown via FaceTime with Manny and his Mom.Thankfully I made it home just minutes before midnight.

As the clock neared midnight we turned to our TV’s and countdown together via video call, held our breath as the clock struck twelve and watched as the famous New Years Eve Ball dropped in Time Square. Though we weren’t physically with each other we were united as we bid our farewell to 2016. After the excitement died down we spent an hour or two talking and then said our I love you’s and goodnights. For the remainder of the night (well morning) I wrote the post below to share with you…but unfortunately the post never went live. I woke up to make a few adjustments to the post and shortly after I received my first message of 2017… “Tasha she died”.

Words still can’t describe how I felt in that very moment but I decided to drop everything and anything I had planned to instead be there for my husband.

It has now been a few days since her passing and though we are all still finding ways to cope I think we have come to terms with her death. I shared a few of my goals for 2017 with you already (see here) but this tragedy has reminded me that tomorrow is promised to no one. That said, I’ve shifted around and prioritized my goals a little differently because I know what is most important to me and I don’t intend on losing sight of those things or people. Just incase you are wondering if this tragedy will affect StylishLee, I will still be posting regularly but please understand that for this month in particular things may be a little out of sync.

To say the year 2016 has flown by is a complete understatement. Last year I rang in the New Year at the notorious ‘clothing optional’ hotel, Hedonism Negril (see post here). Well, I had so much fun last year and opted to visit them again to ring in 2017!

Since Hedonism is a ‘clothing optional’ hotel I always try my best to look seductive while still leaving something for the imagination. Last year I wore a metallic bodycon dress that highlighted my décolletage area, keep reading to find out more about this year’s outfit option… red-jumpsuit-nye-holiday-party-outfit-natashaleeds-stylishlee Who else believes in Love at First Sight!?

I most definitely do…especially after I laid eyes on this RareLondon jumpsuit earlier this year. I was scrolling on their website and my heart pretty much froze and fluttered when I saw this red hot jumpsuit. After deciding that I just had to get it, I literally started imagining the different occasions I could wear this piece—Valentines Day, a summer brunch and definitely to a holiday soiree. Well all those occasions quickly came and passed, and I still had not worn my jumpsuit. Luckily for me I had one more event left for 2016 and I cannot think of a more alluring New Years Eve outfit than this little red number.

Now I know a jumpsuit isn’t the first thing most women would opt to wear on New Years Eve. But at least I knew I wouldn’t be twinning with someone else wearing a sparkly, sequin dress. A jumpsuit really is an understated piece of clothing. Lets face it, we all have loads and loads of dresses in our wardrobe. But how many jumpsuits do you own? I now have a total of 6 (& counting) but if I’d have to guess most will have less than 3. They’re just such an easy thing to wear because there is no need to come up with outfit ideas. Instead the only work needed is to select a killer pair of heels, your bag of choice and you’re good to go!

So once again my décolletage area was out for the second year in a row at Hedonisms New Years Eve party. There’s something so feminine and flirty about anything that’s off the shoulder and that was my very discreet way of showing a little skin at the very risqué party I attended on New Years! Not only did I feel bold and sassy but this look also garnered so many compliments which had me smiling from ear to ear while eating dinner and while pulling my best moves on the dance floor! I think this look was a for sure hit and incase you aren’t sure what to wear this Valentines Day. Here’s my suggestion: a red jumpsuit similar to this one is a less expected going out look than a red dress. Talk Soon. Nuff Love, Natasha ♥

So sorry for your loss. My mother in law was just diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Though she is still with us daily we are plagued with the fears that come with a cancer diagnosis. I do hope that it only brings the two of you closer. All the best in 2017. Love your blog…

My condolences to you, your husband, & the rest of your loved ones. I have enjoyed your blog now for a few months & when I saw the title of this blog; I sort of dreaded opening it because I figured that someone had died. My heart goes out to you as I was awaken two months ago after celebrating completing a major million dollar project only to find that my best friend had died. So my accomplishment was bittersweet. Stay strong, sending you prayers & love.
