Hey Guys I’m back with another review, along with a little suggestion on what you can buy your mom this mothers day. This time we’re talking about skincare! I love pampering myself weekly and my pampering session is never complete without a facemask. But with so many different face masks to choose from on the market (& at different price points) it is hard to know which ones are worth buying. I’ve always considered myself a mask-a-holic, so when I saw this pretty little thing in Sephora on my most recent visit to Florida I knew I just had to have it & I figured my MOM would love it too. So obviously I picked up a second kit just for her ♥
I 100% know that my mom is the person to thank for my obsession with all things beauty. Specifically, my passion for having a solid skincare regimen, that she actually instilled in me at a very young age. For that reason, I always try to shower my mom with beauty products on her special days because she always deserves something luxurious like extra pampering. And I think this mask set will definitely help her take a little time out for herself this Mothers Day.
I picked up this mask set with the hopes of getting my skin in the best shape ever before the extreme summer heat hits! I’ve been using these masks for an entire month (using 1-2 masks per week), and it’s safe to say I made a stellar decision (for both myself & my mom). I’ve been falling in love with my skin again—it looks fresh, smooth, hydrated and bright. These masks officially have found a permanent home in my bathroom cabinet. The results truly speak for themselves! So grab a drink and get comfy because this review might take a while.
The kit contains five of Peter Thomas Roth’s masks, in 50ml sizes:
Cucumber Gel Mask
Rose Stem Cell Mask
Pumpkin Enzyme Mask
Irish Moor Mud Mask
24K Gold Mask
The set I picked up for my mom is the newer version and includes 5 Peter Thomas Masks and a mask applicator. The only difference is the Rose Stem Cell Mask has been replaced with their Blue Marine Algae Intense Hydrating Mask.
I personally think it’s a pretty amazing deal to be able to try an array of face masks, that contain a wonderful ingredient list without spending a fortune. Talk about bang for your buck! A total of 5 yummy face masks, all of which are unique and different from the last. In my opinion, no matter what your skin concern is, there is a mask in this set that has qualities to help correct that problem. Plus having 5 masks is a great way to determine which masks are your favorite and actually worth splurging on. Because honey, the full sizes of these masks range from US$58 to $80! Which definitely makes this bundle a steal at $75 for 5 masks. Especially if you’re a mask junkie like myself who is still trying to be ballin’ on a budget.
The smell of all 5 masks are very pleasant and thankfully they aren’t overpowering. And the texture…well like hair gel it’s pretty ‘wobbly’. Word of advice: be careful when removing the cover because product may wobble and jiggle its way out. As far as packaging goes, the clear plastic tub is actually quite pleasing because it offers a fun view to the clear jelly within.
If you are looking to pamper someone (or yourself!), this would make an amazing gift. Wink Wink, perfect gift for MOM.
Cucumber Gel Mask
This baby right here is an awesome mask to help calm and soothe your skin if it’s feeling a little parched. It actually reminds me a lot of my childhood days when I would get sun burnt and my mom would smear aloe vera gel all over my body. It has a similar green color, texture and it feels pretty much the same when applied on the skin. But unlike aloe vera gel this actually smells very refreshing.
I love applying this mask when my skin feels irritated and it needs a little help calming down. But my absolute favorite way to use this mask is by applying it 30 minutes before my makeup application. It’s always warm in Jamaica, so slapping on this face mask before makeup not only helps me to relax but it gives my skin an instant refreshing feel that continues even after I wash it off. So I definitely consider this mask a lovely treat for your skin but it still isn’t a product that boosts moisture in your skin like other intensive masks do.
Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Gel Mask
While the Cucumber Gel mask has a lightweight refreshing scent that is actually quite discernable, this mask smells a lot like fresh roses. Like the cucumber gel mask this too feels cool when going on the skin and it also seemed to calm my skin down on warmer days.
The rose stem cell bio-repair gel mask claims to help counteract visible signs of aging. While I can’t say whether or not this helped me look like a teenager again, my skin did however feel silky soft and looked radiant after each use. Because of this, every now and then I like to leave this mask on overnight to reveal a glowing complexion the following morning. I also realized that whenever I had a minor breakout and used this mask, the redness around my pimples vanished! Ding Ding Ding, this ones a keeper!
Pumpkin Enzyme Mask
This is my number 1 mask for this entire set! Not only do I think it was the most effective but it also smelled the best too. Okay, yes the mask works but my first impression was how good it smelled—spiced pumpkin latte anyone?
The Pumpkin Enzyme Mask really packs a punch—literally. As soon as you start applying the mask you’re hit with a mild tingling-burning sensation. I personally like this because it just makes me feel like the mask has already started to get the job done. Your skin tingles because the Alpha Hydroxy Acids and Aluminum Oxide Crystals are two of the main ingredients that are supposed to help peel away your skins dull surface to reveal more youthful skin. Plus if you’re worried about the tingling, it goes away within seconds.
Typically I only use this mask once a week or every other week and I leave it on for roughly 20minutes. After rinsing off…BOOMB BABY! My skin is left smooth, polished and raidant. Basically it feels brand spanking new #WINNING!
24K Gold Mask
This mask feels amazing on the skin and there is little to no scent with this, which I enjoy. All you have to do is apply a generous layer and let it sit on the skin for 10 minutes before rinsing off. After using this mask, my skin feels soft, radiant and refreshed. Not to mention, there is actual 25K Gold in it this mask! #SCORE
I can’t say too much about the anti-ageing claims but I’ll be sure to come back with updates from my MOM after she’s given this mask a go.
This mud mask was surprisingly quite hydrating. Somehow I assumed my face would have felt parched after using a purifying mask but instead it felt pretty good. I must add, I did find the removal process a bit time-consuming (& a little annoying) because I had a hard time rinsing the mask off my face. But this is just me being impatient I guess.
If you want that deep cleansing effect of a traditional mud mask, this one will not give you that. However, if you have sensitive or dry skin, the Irish Moor Mud Purifying Mask may work quite well with your skin.
All in all the Mask-A-Holic set is definitely worth it! Plus it makes for the perfect gift too. Though I personally would only purchase the full size jar of one of the five masks (Pumpkin Enzyme Mask), I still highly recommend this mask set. If you want a daily and easy way to incorporate using masks into your beauty routine this mask set is for you. If you still are a little undecided then head to your local Sephora and ask for a sample of one or two of these masks. I actually tried the 24K mask and the pumpkin enzyme mask as a sample before buying this kit.
I hope this review did’t bore you! But if you made it this far, thank you so much for reading. And please let me know in the comments if you’ve tried any other products by Peter Thomas Roth. I would love suggestions on what I should try next. Also let me know what your Mothers Day plans are. Talk Soon. Nuff Love, Natasha ♥
