Silver Lining: Ocean Style Fashion Showcase 2014

So excited to share what I wore to the 7th staging of the Ocean Style Fashion Showcase in Montego Bay, as well as a few pics of my favorite looks on and off the runway. Naturally, when I spotted this satin midi dress by British/Jamaican designer Sandra Kennedy, I knew I found exactly what I was looking for, because I wanted to create a clean, polished and modern look. I chose to pair this dress with my hologram Zara sandals; aside from being really comfortable, which is so important at fashion events, I love how understated yet bold they are! The richness of the satin dress combined with the silver-metal-chained belt detailing in the front made for the perfect attire for the show!

From his work at Interview magazine, to serving as Creative Director of Harper’s Bazaar, and also acting as the Fashion Director at InStyle, Freddie Leiba is without a doubt one of the leading stylists working in the fashion industry today. Not only was it amazing to watch him receive the Ocean Style Award but it was also amazing that I was able to meet him. I was fortunate enough to speak with Mr. Leiba who gave me a bit of insight into the industry as well as sharing several inspiring words and tips with me.

Now for my final recap of the Ocean Style Fashion Showcase, which featured some of the biggest designers in the Caribbean region. Caribbean desingers like Anya Ayoung-Chee (winner of Project Runway season 9), Drenna Luna, Raxann Chin, Ashley Martin and Carlton Brown as well as international designer Carlton Jones and lastly the very popular Moschino. I’ve been attending this show for the past 6 years and what I love most about the show is how they find amazing ways to celebrate the Caribbean’s growing fashion industry ‘while creating an event worthy of international attention.’

I wish I could post all the amazing pictures I’ve taken, but I am afraid I would simply run out of space on this blog (covers face) So, below are some of my absolute favorites. (Photos by Live Stush-Jamaica). Hope you enjoy!
