While I wouldn’t describe myself as a coffee lover, to be quite frank I’m actually a tea lover. But I still do appreciate good coffee. Plus, aside from the actual coffee, I really enjoy finding quaint spots, with a nice vibe, great service, yummy pastries or food and obviously good wifi. Not only do I sip my coffee and gawk at passerbys, but I also enjoy visiting these spots to respond to emails, write a blog post or to find a bit of inspiration. Fun Fact: I’m writing this post in a coffee shop!
Here are my fave go-to cafe’s around the city:
I think it’s safe to say that I pretty much live at Cafe Mocha now. Ever since they opened early last year, my love for sipping a cold brew by the seaside grew. Yes you read that correctly, by the freakn’ seaside. Cafe Mocha sits directly across from the Caribbean Sea & the famous Margaritaville! All it took was one visit and I instantly became a regular customer. I try to get in by about 10a.m. to start my routine of scouring the news and answering emails in between sips of my latte.
Aside from the amazing views of the sea and Margaritaville, it also has a fantastic menu in addition to their delicious coffee. Whether you are a local or visiting Mobay (short for Montego Bay) for the first time, Cafe Mocha is definitely a spot to check out. Besides, what could possibly be more Jamaican than sitting in a cafe and watching the world go by, while sipping on an espresso, munching on a few pastries, all while listening the the Caribbean Sea crash against the coastline?
No list of the best coffee shops in Montego Bay or even in Jamaica would be complete without mentioning Cafe Blue. A staple coffee place to visit as long as you’re on the island. There are three Cafe Blue’s in Montego Bay, but I only visit two because the third is located at the airport and is unfortunately priced much higher.
Cafe Blue, Fairview
If you’re looking for convenience, Cafe Blue, Fairview is an oldie but goodie cafe to visit. It’s typically packed in the early mornings and during lunch hours because of it’s location while it’s sister located in Rose Hall has a very relaxed and casual vibe. When I’m short on time, and wifi just happens to fail me at home, I often find myself heading to the Cafe Blue in Fairview to work. Convenience plays a huge role in picking out my cafes. Cute is great, but far isn’t. I love Montego Bay because everything is pretty much within close proximity of each other, but Cafe Blue, Fairview happens to fall right in the hub!
The Cafe Blue in Fairview is centrally located as an extension of the popular Fontana Pharmacy. They have an incredible assortment of wraps, panini’s and sandwiches while also catering to the sweet tooth foodies, like myself with an array of pastries. Oh & Blue Mountain Coffee is a good accompaniment too. There’s no way your day will turn out bad when good food & coffee is served with fast wifi. Their staff is friendly and have I mentioned the various pastry options? Can you tell I have a sweet tooth? I’ll leave that right there.
Cafe Blue, Rose Hall
Though I don’t visit the Cafe Blue in Rose Hall as much as I’d like to, I personally prefer this location just because of it’s very relaxed vibe. Whenever I do get a chance to visit the Cafe Blue in Rose Hall, I almost always lose track of time because the restaurant takes you away from the busy town and instead provides a peaceful setting to sit back, relax, and enjoy a great coffee. Plus inside smells ahh-mazing!
Coffe n Cream Cafe
Coffee n Cream Cafe is a great spot to grab a quick lunch or to meet up with friends. Whenever you visit you are greeted with super friendly servers and incredible food. The ambiance is very casual, since the Cafe is located in the midst of a shopping plaza. So you can shop, grab a coffee, sit back and listen to the music played by a live DJ during the days.
Their menu is vast and ranges from local eateries like ackee and saltfish to things like an American sub-sandwich. My favorite on the menu happens to be a nice cool frapaccino on a hot day, combined with their famous warmed brownies…ahhh-mazing! (I think the sweet tooth in me is talking again).
& there you have it. Three Cafes to visit on your next visit to Montego Bay. Talk Soon. Nuff Love, Natasha ♥
