My First Ever Blog Post- Welcome! – StylishLee

IMG_9477 - Copy

It’s always the same dream, Natasha Lee fashion mogul, attending all the exclusive events, styling celebrities and jet setting across the globe to attend fashion shows ever so often, and before I know it, I’m awake—Back to the same ol’ Natasha Lee from Montego Bay, Jamaica.

They say the key to being great is by first figuring out who you really are—finding your voice. Still I wonder why have I been so lost?…Who am I? For quite some time now, I’ve been feeling a sense of emptiness, and ever since graduating from University last year it has heightened & I’ve been trying to fill this growing void in my life ever since. Battling between going to graduate school or following my dreams has greatly influenced my loss of self, and in case you haven’t guessed it, I chose the latter (at least for now).

Miakalani

In the past I often times found myself daydreaming of having a personal stylist at my fingertips, ready to give me all the fashion advice I need, but I didn’t happen to be an A-list celebrity who could afford such luxuries. So…I improvised and started styling myself by taking inspiration from just about anything to put a look together. Fortunately, I discovered fashion blogs a few years ago, and through them, I found empowerment and inspiration and decided that I needed to create one myself—ASAP. Sadly the urgency to create a blog dwindled, and self-doubt changed my NOW into tomorrow, my tomorrow into next week, and before I knew it three years had past and still no blog. I kept finding reasons not to start. Nonetheless my personal style was being noticed wherever I went, and as time progressed I kept hearing the same thing…

“Do you have a blog?”

“When will your blog be up?”

“You need to start a fashion blog.”

It’s taken me almost four years to start, because of my inability to give myself credit and I’ve been stuck in a mental prison of self-doubt, which has been killing my creative side for far too long.

Well here we are now—I’ve finally decided to take the plunge.

Now I might not be your own personal stylist at your constant beck and call, but if you’re anything like me and felt like you had to be rich to afford to look good, StylishLee will change your mind. StylishLee is all about looking good and feeling good on a very manageable budget. I hope to incite the same inspiration I once discovered myself when I read my first fashion blog. More importantly, I hope to reignite the sparks of a forgotten dream or maybe even ignite the flames to a whole new aspiration.

Now let yourself go and let me whisk you away for small yet savory moments of bliss. Come and escape with me into a world of fashion, beauty, travel and photography.

WELCOME TO StylishLee

Well Tash. You beat me to it. And you set the bar very high. (I’ve been trying to launch my blog on my own hosting site since last year but the person is taking forever lol). And I just want to point out, that it doesn’t matter when you start, or how long it took, what matters is that you STARTED! A step forward is a step forward no matter how small. Never forget that.

Anyway, I really enjoy the simplicity of your site and the colour scheme. Happy to have read about your natural hair journey again, and even though I never had one myself, I know it must be touching several people out there. In fact, I will be sending it to a friend of mine who is still hiding behind her straight hair. Lol. I’m very proud of you and I still loveeee the name you came up with! If you ever need some editing help, feel free to shout me. I edit for fun (which I am sure you already know lol.)

Welcome to the blog world my love!

Thank you so much Meish. I hope you know I always look forward to a comment from you because its always so different and always pushing me not to give up. It took me some sleepless nights to launch the blog (as simple as the layout is, it was way harder than I thought it would have been lol) and I can’t wait for you to launch yours.

Oh!!! and I will definitely be coming to you when I need editing help or help with names lol.

      Thank you again.

Good job..i love ur blog. its very relatable and inspiring. I follow u on instagram and im now happy that u have the forum to share ur work and views of life.U have an impeccable style. However, what got my attention was not ur beauty or style but ur humility. I’m a believer in beautiful women empowering others and not tearing them down. Keep up the good work.

I truly admire what you are doing because i see a lot of myself in you. Maybe one day i will find the courage to start my own blog because i want to be a stylist sooòo badly. I remember asking Jamie the other day about you and if you studied fashion because you have a great sense of style, she said no but you were about to start your fashion blog i was very happy to hear that. Continue to be the amazing person that you are and i will be taking notes 🙂 you are my inspiration

    • October 4, 2014 / 5:44 pm

oh wow. thank you so much. gotta love Jami for keeping you updated 😉 But never give up on your dreams, I am honestly nowhere near mine, but its a start. I’m happy to inspire you and I wish you all the best.

    Hello Natasha,
Kudos to you for shattering all your doubts & and going with your heart – doubts about your ability to be an amazing blogger & about your hair. I have been following you on IG for a number of months & am constantly bern inspired by your style, though at times I am far too timid to be as edgy:-)
I too flip-flopped on going natural but bc’d, kept it up for 3 years then went back to straight mainly from boredom. Going back this 2nd time around was hard as concrete nails… “it’s too short, it’s not curly enough, my forehead’s too big” – you name it, I found the excuse so believe me when I say, you did the courageous thing & your style, beauty and “fabulousness” has not been compromised, lol. Keep it up pretty lady!

    • October 5, 2014 / 1:17 am

Thank you so much Patrice, I’m totally speechless from your comment. Sitting here in bed and your comment has left me feeling at peace. I can totaly relate when you say you found every excuse because I did that too, time and time again. Good luck on your journey this time around and I hope you spend time focusing more on healthy hair rather than length and curl pattern. Nuff Love.

Hi Natz, I recently saw you on instagram and decided to look at your page. I can say that the void you mentioned above is so real. Sometimes I too have that feeling. Just want to say congrats on taking this step, and from what I can see, you are doing tremendous. Without a doubt you have given me food for thought, inspired me and I do hope that just like you I’ll be able to muster up enough courage to pursue the things that truly fill the void and make me happy. Just want to say thank you for being an inspiration force that people can look up to. You are beautiful both inside and out.

NB: I absolutely love your natural hair
    Thank you again.
