Sashes and Tiaras Fashion Roundup
Hello to all my beauty queens out there! Last weekend, the Miss Jamaica World 2015 crown was awarded to Miss Evergrow Garden Center, Sanneta Myrie, and I was there to witness it all. Now, Sanneta may have won the crown but this doesn’t mean that the remaining ladies didn’t shine as well. Any woman confident enough to strut gracefully across a stage with hopes of representing their country, is and will forever be a winner in my book. ♥
I think you know why I’m really here now though, right??? For the Fashion, DUH!!! (lol). Last weekend I watched as hopeful queens vying for the Miss Jamaica World 2015 title, took the stage in their delicate gowns swaying back and forth as their bodies moved across the stage. So today I want to talk to you about some of my favorite gowns of the night. It takes a lot more than blinding sparkles to make a good pageant dress; her sense of confidence, walk, stage presence, carriage and grace all come into play. Her dress should also be flattering to her figure shape, height and skin tone under the stark stage lights and most importantly, when the young woman first hits the stage we should be in AWE!!!
We know the ladies on the stage at last weekends Miss Jamaica World Pageant looked drop-dead gorgeous, but today I’m sharing with you my top picks form the glamorous night. Here are my favorites, in no particular order of I WANT IT NOW!
Miss Evergrow Garden Center & Miss Jamaica World: Sanneta Myrie
When Sanetta Myrie hit the stage in her blue ball gown designed by Maxam Creations, I immediately fell in love. Her sea blue organza ball gown was sublime; the fitted bodice was just right and the softly flowing and very voluminous bottom-half added drama and fluidity. She looked absolutely beautiful up there and the soft movement of the dress elevated her already graceful stride as she walked across the stage. All that was missing was—YES! A Crown!!! And she got it!
1st Runner up Miss Future Energy Source & Miss Middlesex: Royanne DeSilva
Miss Pier 1 & Miss Cornwall: Daina Haughton
Daina’s light blue gown was also a definite standout of the night. It was exquisitely made and had just the right amount of sexy with the lace over nude illusion of the dress. Her gown fitted perfectly, was the perfect length and had a wonderful column-to-flared silhouette.
Miss Virgin’s International Trading: Shari Jo Robinson
Shari, Shair, Shari! Her gown was very similar to our new Miss Jamaica World, Sannetta Myrie; fitted bodice and a full, wide and voluminous lower half. But because her dress was a fiery red mixed in with some Hollywood glam it brought me so much excitement! This is the red uniform that Santa’s wife, Mrs. Claus wished she had; one that’s striking, bold and intense.
Shari came out smiling and I immediately felt like the dress and color matched her personality perfectly. Lets get this clear, I’ve never met Shari before but you can develop a theme and a mood with an outfit by line and color. So when she hit the stage she just seemed so personable; she was pleasant, confident, bubbly and flirty. Successful gowns always compliment the young woman’s personality and style and I think this gown represented her well.
Miss Morfose Hair Care Services: Talia Soares
Talia’s cobalt blue dress was a show stopper because the color was stunning against her complexion. Her gown was regal, emphasized her statuesque frame and the deep “V” neckline lace over illusion bust was beautiful. She looked CLASSY and SEXY all at the same time in this figure flattering gown.
Miss Wata Land: Jheanell Nesbeth
I absolutely loved Jheanell’s choice for evening gown in the Miss World 2015 finals because she really managed to exude understated sophistication, drama and luxury with this golden-old Hollywood glam look. Her liquid gold dress was enough to make heads turn at the event and was a feast for the sartorial eyes in the audience. The dress was just so impacting when she hit the stage in this DrennaLUNA gown. Without any sequins here, Jheanell still radiated in her golden glory while on the stage. You totally remember this and think, WOW! She may not have won the crown but Jheanell definitely brought nothing but glitz, glamour and ‘fabulousness’ to the stage.
Meet Miss World 2014, Rolene Stauss from South Africa. She may not have been a contestant that night but she is the reigning Miss World Beauty Queen so I had to include her luxe attire. Rolene personified classic elegance, wearing a gold draped bespoke gown by Casper Designer Wear and bold lips to seal the deal.
Finally I leave you with my thoughts on Miss Jamaica World 2014, Laurie-Ann Chin and her Grecian one shoulder ivory gown from Jamaican designer Toya Taylor. Laurie, hands down had on my fave dress of the night. I just love how the silver gems were strategically strewn throughout the gown’s neckline, sleeve, and lower half. OH & that side front high slit…Perfection! The gown was gorgeous, impacting and very Red Carpet worthy. Laurie looked CLASSY and sexy all at the same time in this gown. Her outfit is a perfect example that there’s no need to show overbearing cleavage and have a SLIT to your nether regions to get attention.
Wearing a blue ball gown, Sanneta Myrie gives thanks as as a jewel-adorned crown was placed on her head, and a Miss World sash was tied around her shoulders. Congrats Sanneta! Go and make a change in whatever way you can. You were deserving of this title and you will most definitely represent our country well. We have entrusted you to wave the banner of Jamaica as Miss Jamaica World 2015, and we know you will do just that!
Walk good, One love & Talk soon ♥
