Hey Hey Hey! I hope everyone has had a productive week. I can’t believe it’s already Friday, jeesh! So today you and I will be talking about Loreal Paris EverStrong Thickening Shampoo & Conditioner. Very random choice of product I know. But you know those products we have in our stash that’s always just sitting there…this shampoo & conditioner fits into that category. It was wash day and I realized that both my favorite shampoo and conditioner were out so I just decided to put these two babies to the test.

So the product claims to be a thickening shampoo and conditioner. I personally already have thick curls and kinks so I didn’t really set high expectation for these products. I mean, how much thicker could this shampoo and conditioner possibly make my hair get. Well keep on reading and I’ll tell you.

Loreal Paris EverStrong Thickening Shampoo

Okay so first things first—shampoo. I noticed the main ingredients were rosemary and mint oils, so I was looking forward to a soothing, minty wash when using the L’Oreal EverStrong Thickening Shampoo. It didn’t make my scalp tingle as expected but it was pretty relaxing nonetheless. If you happen to have a sensitive scalp like I do, then it’s important to use products that don’t include sulphates that will strip your scalp of moisture and make it more irritable than it already is. Even though I opt for shampoo’s with no sulphates I still like a good lather. That said, I was a little apprehensive when I was first trying this shampoo because like most sulphate free shampoos on the market they typically don’t lather. Well…L’Oreal you completely caught me off guard because the shampoo lathered like a dream.

Although the shampoo lathered I still consider it more like a cleanser as opposed to a clarifying shampoo. It did get my hair clean and it also left my scalp feeling soothed and not parched. The fresh, minty scent was very spa-esqsue and thankfully it wasn’t too strong and it didn’t linger either. I do plan to continue using this shampoo until in runs out but I don’t think I will repurchase as I have other shampoo’s I much prefer.

Loreal Paris EverStrong Thickening Conditioner

I really wanted to like this product because conditioners are a big part of my hair routine. But unfortunately this conditioner was a BIG FAIL! Oddly enough it was very buttery and smelled lovely and fresh but I was very still disappointed nonetheless. Perhaps this is one of the worst conditioners I have ever used. There was ZERO slip and my hair felt so dried out I was unable to run my fingers through it.

This conditioner lacked both slip and moisture but I wanted to give it another chance. I tried to use it a few days later with hopes of it giving better results, but the results were progressively worst. Then I took things a step further by adding oils to the conditioner to give it one last chance. This helped to improve the conditioners effectiveness just a bit but long story short…I will never use this conditioner again. EVER!

Typically I would not gravitate to these products but they were sitting in a storage basket for months (maybe even a year) and I figured I should use them and be done with them. I hate to waste things so even though I didn’t like the conditioner I tried to find alternative ways to make it better suited for my hair. Though the shampoo wasn’t bad, it wasn’t great either so I won’t be repurchasing the shampoo ever again either.

Leave a comment below if you’ve ever tried either of these products. I noticed online that they both have amazing reviews but I’m assuming these reviews were not done by a curly gal -_-. Oh, and after three different times using this shampoo & conditioner my hair did not look or feel any thicker.
