I Live Where Most Vacation

What do you get when you gather a group of girl friends  and put them at a hotel with an unlimited bar tab? An incredible weekend of madness and bonding…♥

Sometimes the busyness and stresses of life can become so consuming, we completely forget that a little time for fun and friendship is good. & unfortunately when you hit your 20’s, sleepovers don’t just casually happen anymore. Well thanks to my dear friend Tina who put this all together over the weekend we traded in our ‘to-do’ lists for an environment where we could relax, be ourselves, share our hearts, laugh until we cry and Feel Like We Were Back In High School Again!

Before we continue with what may just be my longest post to date, I want to thank my girlfriends (Meci, Tasha, Chyna, Paulette) for making this just a memorable mini vacation. Most importantly a big THANK YOU to the Birthday Gal TINASHAE who organized what I like to call a well needed break from reality…I hope you all enjoy the photos & for the days ahead I’ll post better outfit posts showing my main outfits over the weekend. Love you ♥

I Live where most vacation but we took a vacation where we live and spent our weekend Sun Drunk at Riu Hotel in Montego Bay.

Rum, crazy dancing, lots of food and more rum accompanied by conversations that left us in fits of laughter basically sums up our weekend perfectly.  In our short time at Riu we certainly made use of all the facilities. Waking up early to catch the sunrise, take a scenic route down to the beach with the Bday Gal, drink fresh green juice and smoothies (& rum lol) at the bar, dance the night away in the Riu Night Club, Kayak until our arms hurt from paddling, release toxins at the sauna and for a short while watched the day float by in a lounge chair by the pool. It was the perfect escape…

Our rooms weren’t quite ready when we arrived at the hotel but luckily for us (maybe more for me) lol we were greeted with some Rum Punch while waiting for room finalizations. (Photo Above-Me about to Buss A Happy Dance for the Rum). Not a bad welcome at all, Right? We decided to go on a tour of the property while our rooms were being prepared (since we all are from here it was super fun acting like tourists). Although I usually opt for the more exclusive hotels with a simple and classy decor of a mix of white, black , neutrals and dark wood (kind of like my style lol) I really appreciated the hotel. I would never go with purple for the choice of color for a building but seeing the light purple buildings sprawling over the property was surprisingly refreshing.

We got so caught up in our little excursion of the hotel that by the time we remembered that we hadn’t yet been to our rooms the sun had already set and we had little time to get ready for dinner. It was the only time for the entire weekend that any of us wore heels and after a few cocktails we were either bare-feet or in sandals. We ended the first half of our night on a good note singing Tinashae Happy Birthday, while dancing to loads of Reggae and Dance hall music in the club on property.

IMG_2780For the second half of our night we had some pillow talk [the grown up version to the term slumber party LOL] & I honestly felt like a teenager again, chit chatting about celebrities and giggling over things of no importance or sense. Mix that with too much Rum and Pepsi and I give you the best slumber party [i mean pillow talk] I’ve had in a few years.

First morning in, Tinashae and I woke up ridiculously early and basically had some quiet time watching the sunrise. Then spent a good portion of the morning talking and downing lots and lots of water. The oceanfront guest rooms were perfect…we even had a view of the Sandals Hotel Island.

I spent most of my time wearing my new and maybe favorite versatile pair of sandals from APW Collections made right here in my amazing Country….Jamaica ♥

& yea we also went to the Spa and hit up the SAUNA. Yea, I know Jamaica can be pretty hot but this past weekend was actually very windy and cool so we had every reason to go. Plus I needed to release the toxins from all that Rum. LOL
