OMG I got my hands on the entire Desi X Katy Dose Of Colors collection and I’m still having pinch me moments. I’ve been following both Desi & Katy on youtube for years but more recently I fell even more in love with them because of their friendship together. So when they both made the announcement on Snapchat about this collaboration with Dose of Colors I knew I had to support by getting a few pieces from this collection. To be fair, not many collaborations peak my interest but after watching their introductory video of all the products I knew I had to have the entire 6 piece collection.
First things first…THE PACKAGING and attention to detail!!! When I saw their youtube video explaining the products my heart skipped a beat after seeing how beautiful the product packaging was. I was instantly SOLD! I even told myself, whether or not the products lived up to the hype or not, I would be satisfied by the pretty, sparkly packaging alone.
The nude, satiny-matte finish is simple while the rose gold accents play up more on the glam side. As for the highlighters and the eye shadow quad packaging. My jaw dropped when I actually saw these babies in person. The palettes have a metallic mesh covering that looks incredibly luxe. They looked so luxe I instantly created a spot on my beauty counter to show them off.
The Girls Eye Shadow Quad
The $28 set includes 4 metallic, stand-out eye shadows that have a foiled texture. In a world where every youtube collaboration has matte, warm shades, I was pleasantly surprised with their choice of using foiled shadows. Both Desi & Katy make it very clear that all of the shadows should be used with your fingers and two of the shadows (Suz & Harpoon) were formulated to be used wet (One drop of water on your finger is all you need). These shadows intrigued me because they named the shadows after their 4 dogs. To me this reads very true to their characters and their love for their lil pups.
Suz: an intense, shimmering, champagne shade that looks amazing as an inner corner highlight. For maximum intensity Suz should be used wet.
Turbosan: In the pan, it looks like a glittery black but when brushed onto the lids, it actually leaves behind an eggplant hue with a bluish reflects glitter.
Noli: I think of bronzed summer days when I look at Noli. It’s nothting new in the makeup game but Desi is known for her bronzy looks so it was only fitting for her to have this bronze metallic shade.
Harpoon: This is my absolute favorite shadow from this quad! Harpoon is such an interesting color. It’s an olive green tone with green and gold reflects.
Mirame & Fuego Highlighters
Within the collection Desi & Katy also came out with two highlighters. Did I need both of them, NOPE! But I couldn’t resist because the glittering, gold exterior packaging and the rose gold interior was calling my name. The finish of these highlighters are slightly creamy and leave behind a glossy, glimmering finish on the skin.
Fuego: This golden highlight means FIRE in Spanish and though I think it’s a beautiful champagne tone it sadly didn’t work great against my skin tone. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it either.
Mirame: Yaaaasss!!! I just added another highlighter to my holy grail list! Mirame means “Look at Me” in Spanish and every time I apply this rose gold, glossy, reflective sheen to my cheeks, everyone is literally looking at me! OBSESSED! Mirame is a tad bit warmer than Fuego so I think it will look lovely on tan/olive skin tones.
I love the packaging of all the lip products. The lipsticks are packaged in a beautiful soft touch, nude tube with rose gold lettering and details. Without the cap you’ll have a view of both Desi’s and Katy’s signature against a rose gold metallic interior. The lipsticks are a matte-satin finish.
Like the eyeshadow quad, the names of the lipsticks and lipgloss are also relevant to their lives. More Creamer Please pays homage to how much they love creamer in their coffee and No Shade is something they both use with each other on the daily.
No Shade: The lighter lipstick shade is a peachy toned nude. It’s a beautiful shade but it’s way too light for my liking. Even when used with a lip liner I still think it looks too light on me. The only way I think I’ll be able to use this lipstick is by using it to lighten other colors or when I want my lips to look extra ‘pouty’, I’ll add it to the center of my lips.
More Creamer Please: Now this lipstick is my cup of tea! After testing out No Shade I was a little worried because I started to wonder if both nudes were too light for me. But More Creamer Please is a much deeper nude brown with a warm, peach undertone that I think will flatter tanned, olive or darker skin tones.
Over the Top Lipgloss: This lipgloss reads very gold in the tube, because it’s infused with a reflective gold reflects but thankfully the gloss is actually clear but with a golden shift! The shine of the gloss is like a liquid oil and it has easily become my new go-to lipgloss to wear over the top my nude lippies.
So the one thing most folks know about Dose of Colors is how they mastered the liquid lipstick formula! Their velvety liquid lipsticks are highly raved about so I had to also get these bad boys from this collection. The two colors are the complete opposite from their pretty nude lipsticks—Bold & Vibrant.
HOT FIRE: A vibrant, eye-catching fiery orange-red that screams Summer and tropical vacations. Ya’ll already know I’m a sucker for any red hued lippie so I’ll pretty much be wearing the hot fire liquid lipstick through all four seasons.
SAVÁGE: Ughhhh! Yaasss! Just in time for the Fall & Winter months ahead. This is a rich, black based, deep burgundy.
All in all I am in love with the entire collection and no worries, if you didn’t get your hands on it, it will restock in September. So I suggest you stalk the Dose of Colors website and Instagram page for updates (thats what I did lol). Talk Soon. Nuff Love, Natasha ♥
