Hey StyleLeeders, hope you’re having an awesome weekend so far! As for me I’ve been a bit busy and a bit overwhelmed. I’ve been trying to catch up with so many things that I’m late with my usual “Flashback Friday” post. SORRY!!! But hey, to make it up to you I’ve decided to do a Saturday Morning Flashback instead aka #SentimentalSaturday!
Okay! So for those of you who are unaware of whats happening on the fashion scene right now in Jamaica, it’s Caribbean Fashion Week!!! The annual style celebration, packed with colour, design talent, culture, an ‘all-important front row’ and my fave…A PARTY BAR! Wooohooooo!
In honor of CFW2015 I’ve decided to show you guys what I wore last year…Head-to-toe-nude! Yes, you know me & this is nothing new, I’m miss matchy-matchy, but you can’t deny that the blazer and vampy lipstick elevated this look from 0-100 real quick, haha! I really should title this post 50 Shades of Beige lol. All jokes aside, the fashion world has been all about nudes, blush tones and beige right now, & little old me wore this outfit a year ago (hashtag #TrendSetter haha, okay seriously no more joking around lol).
Last June I actually went with an all nude outfit because I wanted to look classic and chic but didn’t want to go with either black or white, so my next option was ALL NUDE!!! This classic vintage set was actually given to me by my mother a few years ago, and CFW presented the perfect opportunity to wear it. SCORE! All the pieces from this look (blazer, embellished top, satin skirt, bag) are over 20 years old so unfortunately you won’t be able to grab yourself the exact outfit, but I’ll include some alternative options in case you want to shop a similar look.
I must say I really did enjoy CFW last year. I was an arms length away from the models as they strut down the runway wearing pieces from designers like Meiling from Trinidad and Bob Marley’s daughter, Cedella Marley from Jamaica. CFW also infused a shopping area inside the show venue, making it possible for us to shop the collections presented on the runway. That’s not typical for most fashion shows here in Jamrock, so this was a pretty remarkable feature. Another show stopper that night…Jamaican signer Ishawna and her spectacular performance. She sang her hit single while debuting her sexy lingerie collection “Legacy” (oh, Beenieman also surprised us by joining her on the stage, crazy I know!).
I had a blast last year and as a first-time attendee I was honestly blown away with the craftsmanship and attention to detail of all the collections. Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be making it this year, but I’ll be living vicariously through the IG accounts of all my other Jamaican style bloggers KingstonBelle, TiaClothesGirl, AshSlay who will be in attendance.
Talk soon lovebugs! Thank you for stopping by as always and wishing you an amazing weekend!
