The BEST & CHEAPEST CONDITIONER
(but not the greatest ingredients)
Ever since I began contemplating going back natural and began reading about the best products for curls, coils and kinks, the Aussie Moist line came into the picture time and time again. There has always been an enormous amount of hype around their products and I think it’s because they are super cheap yet still get the job done.
I’ve been using the Aussie Moist Conditioner as my go-to co-wash conditioner for over a year and the 3 Minute Miracle Moist Conditioner as a quick, on-the-go deep conditioner and I don’t plan on parting with either of these products anytime soon. Whenever I’m low on funds, Aussie has always had my back…well more like my hair. Their products provide good slip for detangling, and does a pretty decent job of moisturizing my hair too.
The only downside is the use of silicones found in the products ingredient list. Now they aren’t the worst of silicones but if you happen to be chemical conscious or only use all-natural hair products, then the Aussie line may not meet your standards and may not be for you.
If you’re a fan of Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Conditioner (review here) then the Aussie Moist Conditioner is definitely worth a try because they contain very similar types of ingredients. I must admit I do prefer the Hello Hydration Conditioner because I prefer the scent and it gives more slip but this one is pretty similar in performance nonetheless.
The Aussie Moist Conditioner is creamy in consistency and gives pretty average to good slip. It is however slightly thicker and heavier than Hello Hydration which probably explains why it has less slip than it. Occasionally I’ll add a bit of water or coconut oil prior to applying, and I do this to help thin out the product just a bit so the detangling process runs smoother for me. I really can’t describe the scent but it smells pretty good, sort of coconuty. After rinsing this product out, my hair always feels drastically softer making this also a good moisturizing conditioner.
Look, a curly gal can NEVER have too many detanglers and based on the price of the Aussie Moist Conditioner I would recommend this conditioner to anyone on a tight budget. It smells great, has good slip and leaves your hair feeling soft and moisturized. All in all, I think this is a great, cheap co-wash and detangling conditioner.
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moist Conditioner
I remember my exact reaction the first time I used the 3 Minute Miracle Moist Conditioner. I was visiting Manny in Florida for a week and I was busy having so much fun that I neglected my hair the first few days of my trip. By about day 4 or 5 I woke up and my hair looked and felt unbelievably dry. I didn’t take any hair products with me from Jamaica so he took me to the CVS to grab a few products to wash my hair with. Now by day 4 or 5 of a 7 day trip you know home girl already went to the mall basically everyday & basically finished all her money!!! So I was also running low on funds and back then I was a Shea Moisture only gal but at that moment in time I did’t have a Shea Moisture pocket! I walked back and forth in the hair and beauty section and saw the bright purple bottle the a price tag of $2.99!!! I heard good things about this product before, and I really had no other choice since everything else seemed to cost more so I just picked it up and hoped for the best.
That very evening I was left completely shocked. How could a conditioner that cost less than $3.00 make my hair feel so damn GOOD?! I wasn’t even that surprised by the softness, it was how quickly my hair transformed into a hydrated, silky, shiny and manageable mane. Ever since that day I always have two or three bottles of this stashed away for days when I’m short on time and need a quick pick-me-up for my hair. I also have them on deck for any more dry hair emergencies.
I also love how practical the packaging is. Aussie describes their bottle as a ‘grab & squeeze’ type so you avoid dealing with an annoying cap or pump. I find this very purposeful, because often times when washing my hair in the shower my hands are too slippery to pump out product out of a bottle not to mention too slippery to screw the cap off the bottle. So I really appreciate the ‘grab & squeeze’ bottle that Aussie has chosen to use with this intensely hydrating deep conditioner.
Both conditioners have been consistent winners in beauty product awards from the year 2011 and I can totally see why. I highly recommend both these products if your’e on a budget, heavy handed with product and don’t mind silicones being in your hair products.
I’m sure most of you have already tried these cult favorite conditioners. What are your thoughts? Leave a comment below and let me know! Nuff Love. Talk Soon, Natasha ♥
