A Relaxing Pamper Routine with Alikay Naturals

As a child I remember feelings of excitement whenever my mother would set up bubble baths for myself and my sister. Somehow as I grew older that excitement lessened. I grew impatient and sitting around for an hour doing nothing in a tub full of warm water just seemed daunting. Nonetheless, for the last few years I always set time aside every Sunday to have a little pampering session where I take a long shower, exfoliate my body and apply a face mask. These little Sunday sessions have allowed me to unwind after a hectic work week.

Lately I’ve been feeling really out of sync and decided to up my pampering sessions to include a 30 minute lavish bath at least once a month and it has truly helped me to unplug. Now that I’ve grown past those impatient high school/teenage years I’ve come to appreciate taking long baths. There is just something so calming and restorative about sitting in a tub and getting lost in thought.

Whether you like taking long showers or long baths, I think we can all agree that there is nothing quite like taking some much-deserved “ME” time with a pampering session to make you feel relaxed and at peace with life. Once you are able to develop your own routine you will quickly realize that having a pampering session really can help to clear your mind while helping with your overall wellbeing and health just by indulging in some of your fave skincare products.

  1. Cleanse Face: I always cleanse my face before applying any facial mask to get off all the gunk of the day and to prepare my skin to receive the mask.
  2. Apply Face Mask: Using a flat paintbrush/makeup foundation brush I apply my mask of choice to my face.
  3. Use a Body Scrub: After showering as usual I then take my favorite sugar body scrub to give my skin an effective exfoliation, leaving it smoother and softer than ever.
  4. Time for a Relaxing Bath: After washing off the body scrub I jump in my tub filled with bath salts and rose petals.
  5. Moisturize Skin: After my bath, while still wet I apply a shower oil all over my body and once I’ve completely dried off I proceed to hydration my skin with a good shea butter based moisturizing cream. This leaves my skin looking healthy and glowing.
  6. Relax: Rinse off face mask and proceed to regular night time facial routine. Then I light one of my Alikay Naturals Soy Candles, play my favorite music, drink some green tea and just try to relax.

Cleanse: Amazing African Black Soap

So I always first start out by cleansing my face with an African Black Soap. The black soap I’m currently using is one from Alikay Naturals. Now the results I’ve experienced since using this particular black soap are definitely worth bragging about. I will forever be grateful for this product because it really does help to clear up my skin by fading blemishes and acne scars naturally. Nonetheless black soap does leave my skin feeling dry after prolonged use. So rather than using this soap daily I only use it two, sometimes three times per week.

If you struggle with acne and have combination/oily skin I highly recommend trying this stuff. If you’re like me and have sensitive skin then I suggest cleansing your face with this soap every few days instead of everyday. Plus, if the soap doesn’t work whatsoever for you, you can always use it on your body (Yes I do this too—but mostly on just my back).

Tip: Don’t forget to moisturize your skin liberally after using this black soap.

Face Mask: Dead Sea Mud Facial Mask

After cleansing my face using the Alikay Naturals African Black Soap I pat my face dry. Then using a flat paintbrush or foundation brush I apply a thin layer of Alikay Naturals Dead Sea Mud Facial Mask to my face. I love this face mask because it always leaves my skin feeling tight and rejuvenated after use. The natural minerals found in this mask detoxifies your skin and a good detox is exactly what I’m looking for at the end of a long work week.

At this point I’ll either relax and soak in my bath and rinse the mask off once I’m through or I let the mask sit on my face for roughly 20 minutes. I then rinse with warm water and rub my face gently in a circular motion to exfoliate. As always I gently pat dry my face and follow with a moisturizer.

Body Scrub: Brown Sugar Body Scrub

Recently, I have been really obsessing over body scrubs. And this yummy brown sugar scrub by Alikay Naturals has just taken the number 1 spot for best body scrub I’ve ever used. With an oily texture and a really gritty sugary consistency, this really exfoliates the skin with intent. The scent is a mix of brown sugar and caramel which is absolutely beautiful and also uplifting for me. Whenever I use this body scrub I feel like a goddess because I am always left with glowing, baby soft skin afterwards.

After showering I apply the body scrub to my wet skin and massage it into my skin in a circular motion to exfoliate. Then I rinse well with warm water. Remember my words…glowing, baby soft skin!

Bath Salts: Cleopatra Rose Milk Bath

A little birdy once told me Queen Cleopatra who was known for her glowing skin used to have daily milk and honey baths. Do you see where I’m going with this? I hope so. There’s no way I am the only gal out there who wants to bathe and feel like a queen, even if it is just for 30 minutes haha!

Adding this milk bath to my monthly soaks in the tub has truly made a difference in my pampering routine. Shower Oil: Jamaican Fruit Body Scents

Using a shower oil happens to be pretty new to my routine. I mostly use this shower oil from Alikay Naturals when my body is in need of a little more moisture. After my bath or after showering I’ll rub a small amount in the palms of my hands and massage it into my skin. For those wondering, it does not leave your skin feeling greasy. I shared the same concerns the first time I used it, so I tested it on a day I would be home all day and was pleasantly surprised by how well it absorbed into my skin while leaving it feeling nourished.

Alikay Naturals has other scented oils but I personally love the sweet coconut milk scent. Every time I use this oil after my shower I end up smelling myself all day. And knowing that I smell good boosts by confidence ten fold.

Body Cream: Majestic Beauty Stretch Mark & Scar Remover

My final step is using a body cream and applying it all over my body. I have tons of body creams sitting around my bathroom, but I’ve recently been using this particular one from Alikay Naturals. It’s their stretch mark and scar remover body moisturizer.

Now I don’t struggle with stretch marks but a few months ago my legs were badly bitten up by mosquitoes and sand flies and ever since then this is the only body cream I’ve used—And guess what?! Since using this product the appearance of my dreadful mosquito bites have drastically been reduced. Whew!

The great part about this all-natural, body cream is how rich and moisturizing it is which also makes it the perfect step to finish off any shower/bath routine.

Tip: Exfoliate your skin regularly to lift dead skin cells and use daily to give your skin enough time to show positive changes.

    Great routine Natasha! I’ve got sensitive skin too and black soap everyday is too much for me as well.

    I’ve been trying to track down the Dead Sea Mud Facial Mask but it’s no longer as a stand alone product on Alikay Natural’s website.
